QVoicer Personalizations

If there is one thing we've learned from attending so many conferences, it is how much personalization matters to an AAC User.  We take for granted how personal and unique our vocal sounds are.  AAC users don't have that.  So let's bring as much personality we can to your AAC system.  It needs to feel like yours.

First things first, let's change the Q Menu name to be the letter of your first name!  This is not just Q's Voice.  This can be M's Voice, T's Voice. AJ's Voice...

1. Open the Q Menu by long pressing on the Q on the top left corner of the screen
2. Tap on Preferences.
3.  Under Appearance, you'll see the setting to change the Q Menu letter into whatever word you want.

Check out the other customizations in the Appearance section:

You can set Button appearance system wide, as well as disable animations in the Preferences.
Do you have a favorite color?  Set the Primary App Color in the Preferences here and see what happens.

Did you know we use emojis in our app buttons?  AND (!!!) emojis come with skin tones!!!!  So when you set the skin tone the Preferences, we'll automatically switch skin tones for you if we encounter an emoji with skin tones.

We are hoping to expand the use of this feature later but for now, it's just being used for Emojis.

There are so many goodies in the Preferences here.  Play around with any of the settings here.  Have fun with it!

  • Adjust the speed, pitch, and volume to make it sound just right.
  • Choose different volume levels for button presses and for reading sentences.
  • Create different voices for the QVoicer and model (teaching) mode.
